14 March 2004

Marlton  2   Medford   3: Everyone was itching to play but the rust showed early for both squads.  Play picked up once everybody got some touches and was fairly clean throughout the game with no problems among the players.  Marlton got on the board first when Sam Levy headed in a ball from about 6 yards out on a cross from the Marlton right side.  Medford countered with 10 seconds left in the 1st quarter on a 20 yard shot from J. P. Vickers that caught the Marlton keeper flat footed.  In the second quarter,  Marlton got their second from a 18yard shot by Ron Lauricella from the Marlton left side catching the Medford keeper flat footed.  Medford answered shortly afterwards with a goal from Tomas Hercules from the Medford right side beating the Marlton keeper low and to his left.  3rd quarter play was a cat and mouse game in the midfield with neither team getting much in opportunities.  In the 4th quarter with 5 minutes to go, Medford got a set piece from a foul just outside Marlton's 18 yd line.  Tomas Hercules for Medford beat the 5 man wall on a banana kick to the left of the Marlton wall which beat the Marlton keeper just inside the post.  Marlton pressed but couldn't get anything and the game ended 3-2 in Medford's favor.

21 March 2004

Voorhees   2   Marlton    2: Game started late due to referee going to wrong field.  But that and the wind didn't keep both teams from a good game.   Marlton got on the board first with a drive from Ron Lauricella from theMarlton left side about 10 yards out.  Game play was mostly sporadic due to the heavy cross wind causing the ball to just get out of reach of players.  Voorhees got their 1st goal by #10who took a low pass from the Voorhees right side to the left and burying it on a low shot from 12 yards out.   In the 3rd quarter,  Voorhees got their 2nd goal from #28 on a defensive breakdown on the Marlton left side and took a clear breakaway to the goal beating the Marlton keeper to his right.  Later in the 3rd, Chai Chuenmark of Marlton took the ball from midfield and dribbled to the top of the Voorhees box after beating 2 defenders and beat the Voorhees keeper low and to his right.  The 4th quarter ended scoreless with the game ending in a 2-2 tie.
